24 incidents of tree falling reported in Shiroda in last month

PONDA: In the last one month, 24 incidents of tree falling in Shiroda constituency have been recorded by Ponda’s fire station. A loss of more than a lakh of rupees has been estimated due to these incidents.

Local Aabu Naik suffered a loss of Rs 60,000 after a tree fell at his house at Ferry Road. Shiroda and Borim panchayats reported nine incidents each while six in Bethora panchayat.

The loss was also caused after trees fell on the power lines at Vaaje and Shiroda. On Monday, there was traffic snarls on Panchwadi-Shiroda route after trees collapsed at Shivnathi. 

A shopkeeper suffered a loss of about Rs 25,000 at Borim. Tree also fell on a parking shed near Pragati School, causing a loss of about Rs 10,000.
