Panic and grief struck the family of Kamal Dhyani (25), a resident of Kailashpuri, after he went missing while returning home from his office in Rohini on Wednesday night. When repeated calls went unanswered, his family began searching across multiple police stations, including Janakpuri, Sagarpur, Vikaspuri and Rohini.
According to police, Kamal’s brother reported the disappearance at Janakpuri Police Station around 2.45 am. A head constable joined the family in searching the area for several hours, using mobile tower location data to trace his last known movement.

The search ended tragically on Thursday morning when a woman alerted police about a body lying inside a 15-foot-deep pit. Officers reached the spot and found Kamal’s bike nearby. Preliminary findings suggest he died after falling into the open excavation, reportedly dug for Delhi Jal Board (DJB) work.
The family has raised questions over the lack of barricades or protective fencing, alleging negligence and not ruling out foul play.
Delhi Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood has ordered a probe. Three DJB officials have been suspended, while police continue investigating with CCTV footage and other evidence.
