CANACONA: Canacona Police arrested one youth Ashish Sharma, 26-year-old native of Uttar Pardesh, temporarily living in a hostel at Palolem Canacona, for illegally possessing 60 grams of ganja worth Rs 12,000.
The police took swift action over reliable information and conducted the raid in the wee hours of Friday morning. According to the police sources, the alleged accused person was caught red-handed for illegally possessing narcotic substance suspected to be ganja, weighing 60 grams, and worth Rs 12,000 in the international market.
The accused is an engineering student and was working in a software company at Chennai. As per the records, he has been living in Goa since March this year and due to the lockdown has been working online from Goa as per his company’s directions.
A case has been registered under Sections 20(b) (ii) (A) of NDPS Act. Sources informed that the lawyer of the alleged accused has filed for anticipatory bail in the local court.
