ARPORA: While one of the major 3-day EDM events ended at Vagator, loud music and violators of covid norms mega parties continued to cross the coastal belt in Goa. In village like Arpora, people are having sleepless nights for over weeks.
This reporter closely followed the goings on at an open-air venue managed by the popular and expanding nightclub chain owned by a Delhi-based owner.

This venue is actually a wedding cum party hall on the Arpora hill, but this soon turned into a venue for nightlong parties with DJ and several artistes.
It is learned that there are a series of artiste performances lined up at these venues, having star artists from the state, country, and world. As per sources, this venue is owned by the local panchayat member who was then giving this place on rent for weddings, formal events, and more. But a few months ago, this place was given out on lease for a private party – a club chain, who has begun to host daily night long events inviting several DJ’s, artists from Goa, India & across the world.
In the last 3-4 days at this venue more than 5000 people were seen dancing to the performance by violating all norms in this open-air mega dance club. This doesn’t end here. Mega nights are planned on the New Year’s eve and also in future.
5 to 6 k people with no masks
As per a source, there are daily events hosted at this venue with more than 5000 to 6000 visitors dancing throughout the night, without any mask nor maintaining any social distance. Many locals in the past had also raised their voice but no action has been taken.
In the month of November, some locals had also complained against the said venue for blaring loud music in complete violation of the sound laws. They had even complained to the local panchayat, the Sub-Divisional officer and Deputy Collector Bardez officer, that the management had been holding events at the venue causing a lot of noise pollution in the vicinity. In spite of making complaints the authorities have failed to act.
Even on Thursday, (December 30 2021), when team Herald took a round near the venue in Arpora, it was shocking to see that there was no place to walk, there was traffic jam leading to the venue. It was over-packed with thousands of attendees, with no place to walk inside. Most of them were without masks, no social distancing maintained, no proper checking too. This is Goa which is turning into a hotspot for COVID-19.
