PONDA: In a raid conducted on an illegal slaughterhouse at Marwasada, Usgao on Monday, Ponda Police arrested three persons and seized meat over 300 kgs.
The police also found two buffaloes slaughtered at the site. Those arrested include 58-year-old Khajamuddin Hakiwala, his 25-year-old son Mohammad Hakiwala from Marvasada-Usgao and 37-year-old Mohammad Rafi Kanvi from Chimbel.
Besides the three, the police have registered an offence against an unknown person.
Three live buffaloes were also found at Khajamuddin Hakiwala’s residence. The veterinary doctors were also present during the raid.
According to Ponda Police, they received a call from an unknown person at around 12.30 am on Monday informing them about the slaughter of animals. Police have registered an offence under Sections 188, 429 and Section 11(1) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
