MARGAO: As the Gandhi market is closed by 6 pm, the vendors have now started selling their wares by the road side and on Monday two temporary stalls were put up on either side of the road leading to T-Corner from Govind Poy’s shop.

Incidentally, the police who used to man this junction were conspicuous by their absence. Private vehicles including mini pickups moved about freely in Margao and police disclosed that they have not received any instructions to stop vehicular movement.
At Konkan Railway Station where police had put up a barricade, people were allowed to go out of Margao without any question while people coming into Margao were stopped and questioned. At SGPDA Market, the provision stores were open.
