MAPUSA: After deciding to act tough on those dumping garbage in open spaces in Mapusa, the officers of the local municipality fined 30 violators and collected Rs 7,800 as fine from the on the last two days of last year.
The violators were found dumping garbage at old Asilo Hospital.
To crack down on garbage dumping, the municipality has formed four teams to keep a check in the town. These teams are headed by Market Inspectors Vikas Kambli, Shekhar Gauns, Narsinha Rathwad and Sonali Gadekar.
Municipal Chairman Ryan Braganza informed that teams are formed to catch hold of people found dumping garbage in Mapusa Municipal jurisdiction. The violators are imposed fine up to Rs 1000.
