MARGAO: The Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro has flayed the PWD National Highway Division for too much delay in completing the works of the road at Navelim junction.
However, Faleiro congratulated the PWD for finishing traffic signal system at the junction in time especially the Executive Engineer Prasad Panandikar. The system will start on experimental basis from Monday.
“Former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar and the incumbent have assured me of completing this work. Today, I have a problem as there are some works that still remain. Barricade, signages, footpath, steel railings and drainage system work is yet to be tendered by the National Highways Division of the PWD. I am waiting to invite the CM for inauguration,” he said.
Luizinho underlined the fact that the junction is used by 10,000 students. “We want to start this on experimental basis on Monday and we want the assistance of the traffic cell because there will be some teething problems in the beginning,” he said.
On the pending works, Faleiro said that the estimates are rejected several times.
“I am doubtful that without the infra is in place the signals won’t work. Police will be required round the clock while discipline is expected from the people who use this junction,” he added.
