PONDA: Oil cans worth around Rs 1.50 lakh were seized during a raid on a Ponda based agency for selling the same without mentioning manufacturing date.
The raid was conducted by a Legal Metrology Department team led by Packaging and Commodity Assistant Controller Arun Panchwadkar, legal Metrology Inspector Nitin Purusharan and Sudan Rane.
According to Purusharan, the incident came to light when their team had gone for inspecting a retail shop involved in selling oil but found that the owner was selling it without manufacturing date.
On questioning, the retailer said that he said that he purchased it from Ponda based distributer. Accordingly, raid was conducted and 300 cans of oil worth Rs 1.5 were seized.
