37,000 families to get 3 free cylinders from month-end

Govind Gaude, Minister for Rural Development Agency says those below the poverty line will benefit from the scheme

MARGAO: Nearly 37,000 families belonging to category of below poverty line will get the benefit of three cooking gas cylinders free of cost from the month of June end, as the scheme will be notified in the next few days, stated Govind Gaude, Minister for Rural Development Agency. 

Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the function organised by United Tribals Associations Alliance (UTAA) to mark the 122nd Death Anniversary of Birsa Munda at Margao. He also said that the scheme will be implemented in a phased manner and the government is also planning to give benefit to all those families whose annual income in less than Rs 5 lakh. 

“In the first phase nearly 37,000 BPL families will benefit from the scheme and the amount will be directly deposited into their bank accounts. In the later stages the government has planned to bring the families having their annual income less than Rs. 5 lakh under the scheme”, he added. 

The Minister informed that the scheme will be notified in the next couple of days and by the end of the month it will be implemented. 

This scheme is listed in the manifesto of the BJP, but the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has not specifically said that all the families will get the benefit of the said scheme of three free gas cylinders.
