MAPUSA: Four persons were injured when a helium balloon exploded at Vagator, on Saturday.
According to the Anjuna police, the incident occurred when the staff of Dubki Restaurant were lowering the balloon.
The staff who sustained injury in the accident were identified as S K Ismail, 23, a native of West Bengal, Sanjay Kumar, 25, native of Bihar, Ashok Chaudhary from Mumbai and Nakul Das, 49, from Odisha. They were shifted to the District Hospital, Mapusa for medical treatment.
Nakul Das was discharged from the District Hospital while the other three were referred to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim for further treatment.
The police have recorded the statements of all four injured persons wherein all of them stated that as the balloon was installed long back at the entrance of their restaurant they all decided to lower it and while lowering it they got injured.
The victims also stated that they do not have any complaint against any person, police said.
The Anjuna police acted swiftly and registered a case of accident. A probe is on into the matter and if any negligence is found on any part, necessary action will be initiated, Mapusa Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Jivba Dalvi said.
