QUEPEM: Transportation of ore is all set to commence from Monday, January 8, after transporters agreed to pay an additional fare of Rs two per km following heated discussion between truck owners, transporters and Sesa Goa Truck Association.
The meeting held at Sanvordem-Tisk witnessed heated discussions with the truck owners initially refusing to commence ore transportation on grounds that their demand for revision of rate was not fulfilled.

“At our last meeting, Chief Minister had promised that the rates would be revised, but he has not fulfilled his promise,” the truck owners complained.
“The impasse was overcome after the transporters agreed to pay from their pocket an additional Rs two per km for transporting the ore,” said Sesa Goa Truck Owners President Vallabh Dalvi.
He further said, “This is just a temporary solution to tide over the crisis. We demand that the rates be officially revised and notified.”
Confirming the assurance, transporter Vilas Desai said, “We shall be paying the additional rate from our own pocket to transport ore from Kale yard to Andre jetty.”
