4 Margao blast suspects to be chargesheeted

MARGAO, JULY 14 Holding that the act of the accused in the Margao bomb blast can be termed as terror, the South Goa Sessions Court on Wednesday has ordered framing of charges against four of the 11 accused charged by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) in the Margao bomb blast case.

Holding that the act of the accused in the Margao bomb blast can be termed as terror, the South Goa Sessions Court on Wednesday has ordered framing of charges against four of the 11 accused charged by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) in the Margao bomb blast case.
The court has also rejected the bail applications filed by accused Vinay Talekar, Vinayak Patil and Dilip Mangaonkar.
The court ordered framing of charges against accused Vinay Talekar, Vinayak Patil, Dhananjay Ashthekar and Dilip Mangaonkar under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosives Act, waging war against the State and criminal conspiracy.
Referring to the arguments by the defense counsel that every blast may not be terror, Judge U V Bakre, however, said “It cannot be forgotten that in the present case, at the venue of the Narkasur competition at Margao, where Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Fatorda legislator Damu Naik,  besides lots of dignitaries of the Margao Municipal Council and also lots of people had gathered and the bomb blast, which killed accused Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik, occurred at a close distance from the venue”.
Judge Bakre further said a particular section of the people from the State conducts and attends such functions. “It was only luck that people at various places were saved since plans to blast particular places failed. Prima facie, the said act can be termed as terror”, he said.
Rejecting the plea of the accused to discharge them from the case, the judge in his order said he is of the opinion that there are reasonable grounds for believing that the accusations against the accused is prima facie true.
The judge said the evidence in respect of the various mobiles attached by the police may not directly prove anything as far as the offenses are concerned. “The fact, however, remains that the accused persons wanted to conceal their identity,  since  second  hand
