50% seats at Ayurveda institute reserved for Goans: Sawant

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday announced that 50 per cent seats at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) at Dhargalim, Pernem – to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 11 – are reserved for Goan students. 

Sawant said that out of the 100 seats for the Bachelor in Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) programme, 50 seats are reserved for Goan students and the rest will be filled under All India quota. 

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) announced that government has approved the admissions to 50 seats allotted to State quota in BAMS course at AIIA, the institute affiliated to the Goa University. 

DTE said that the first round of admissions will be held on December 8 and 9. 

“Eligible applicants with valid NEET-2022 scores, who have not applied earlier, can submit spot application for this course at 10 am on December 8 at DTE. They will be considered for admission based on their merit,” DTE announced. 

The ayurveda institute will consist of an academic building for undergraduate and postgraduate programme, a 250 bedded hospital, lecture halls, research centre, hostel, conference hall and a laboratory. The project is worth Rs 300 crore. 

Goa has a private institute at Shiroda offering BAMS programme with intake capacity of 60 students.
