Some 500 workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today left for New Delhi to participate in the agitation against price rise in the national capital on April 21.
The Opposition party activists left by Konkan railway today in two batches. One batch was led by state party president and Mandrem MLA laxmikant Parsekar while the other was headed by general secretary Adv Narendra Sawaikar. Many women workers are part of the delegation.
Parsekar has carried with him the list containing nearly one lakh signatures collected from across Goa protesting against the price rise.
BJP’s State secretary Vishwas Satarkar and Vinay Tendulkar, former MLAs, are also part of the contingent.
Interestingly, for all major protest marches or dharna held in New Delhi, Goa unit of BJP has been deputing its workers. Sangh Parivar activists had been participating in the national programmes of their satellite organization for nearly two decades now. Some of the present day Goa senior BJP leaders had also participated as kar sevaks in Ayodhya when Babri Masjid was demolished.
