PONDA: Ponda Police on Saturday arrested five persons from Kerala and two from Karnataka for burglary at a mobile shop in Banastarim.

Ponda Police Inspector Mohan Gaude said, “On January 20 night, the arrested had entered the mobile shop at Banastarim by removing roof tiles. The shop owner Aviraj Tiveekar had filed a complaint that 25 mobile sets and other goods were stolen from his shop. Based on his complaint, an offence was registered.”
The police investigated the case under guidance of PI Gaude and arrested the seven accused and also recovered five mobile sets from them.
The arrested are Navshad K (40), the key accused, Azzaruddin (24), Nizzamuddin (25), Phiroz PM (28), Vishnu Jaydev (28) from Kerala while Basu Madar (19) and Ashok Dasar (22) from Karnataka. The police also seized a Enfield Motorcycle. It is learnt that some of these Keralites were doing business at Anjuna while some had arrived for holidays in Goa.
