7th e-auction of ore nets ` 7.07 crore Team Herald

PANJIM: The seventh e-auction, wherein 55,000 tonnes of iron ore were sold, has brought in revenue of Rs 7.07 crore to State exchequer. The amount is almost Rs 50 lakh more than the fixed base value of the sold ore. 
As per Mines Department records, the government has earned approximately Rs 7,07,28,000 from the e-auction. With this, the total revenue generated by e-auctioning 6.85 million tonnes of ore is Rs 713 crore.
Of the 55,000 tonnes of ore, Sesa Sterlite purchased almost 53,000 tonnes with a bid price of Rs 6.74 crore. The balance 2,000 tons has been purchased by Shree Someshwar Traders. 
Meanwhile, Directorate of Mines and Geology has identified total 4.72 million tonnes of ore for e-auction in the eighth phase, which is expected to be held next week. 
The ore stacked at 35 different plots and jetties and has a Fe content varying from 39 to 65.
Government wants to ensure that the entire 15 million tonnes of identified ore gets auctioned before October, when the fresh mining extraction is expected.
