CANACONA: Canacona Police arrested eight persons for obstructing Loliem-Polem sarpanch Bhushan Prabhugaonkar and for stoning his car after the special gram sabha on November 27. All the accused were later released on bail.
Acting on a complaint filed by Loliem-Polem sarpanch Bhushan Prabhugaonkar, Canacona Police arrested eight persons for obstructing Prabhugaonkar and for stoning his car after the special gram sabha on November 27
The eight persons were interrogated by Canacona Police Inspector Philomena Costa on Wednesday.
Rajendra Chari, Ronex Pereira, Nexica Carvalho, Mariana Fernandes, Shrikant Satarkar. Anthony Pereira, Nilesh Bhandhari and Sujit Chari, who were allegedly involved in the obstructing, stoning and blocking the sarpanch’s car, were interrogated by the Canacona police inspector and were granted bail after furnishing a personal bond.
Sources at Canacona police station also revealed that cases against more persons were also registered by the sarpanch on Wednesday, but Canacona police plans to initiate slow and steady action.
Sandesh Talekar, a social worker from Chaudi, said that filing a case against the villagers is something damaging and some one should come forward to settle the issue.
Dennis Fernandes, president of Loliem Citizens Committee said the letter sent by the Canacona Police have been received by eight residents, reportedly named by Sarpanch in his compliant filed on 2nd December 2016.
He said that the said allegedly incident took place on November 27 but FIR was registered on December 2, which is against the law.
