CUNCOLIM: More than 86 bars and liquor outlets will be forced to close down in Cuncolim due to the Supreme Court order to shut down all liquor outlets on National and State highways.
In fact, National Highway is passing through Cuncolim market there are over 86 liquor outlets in Cuncolim within the distance of 500 mts from NH 17.
All this Bars and whole sale liquor outlets in Cuncolim market will be axed from April. The authorities have already completed the survey on this road.
From Cuncolim to Balli, all bars will be closed down. In this there are about ten big hotels cum restaurant and bars while others are small ones. From Cuncolim Bazaar to Sanvorcoto and from Bazaar to Bhiunsa, all liquor shops will be closed down. In this, there are some bars existing since the Portuguese era. These bar owners are now expecting support from government.
From April, those who want to sit with a peg of beer will be forced either to go to Assolna Tariwada or at IDC.
