MARGAO: A senior citizen was spotted lying in dense vegetation in a location in Fatorda on Friday. On noticing the man, some citizens shifted him to Hospicio hospital in Margao.
The senior citizen was lying in the vegetation by the road for the last one week and probably without food and water. People ignored him assuming that he may be a mentally imbalanced person. But after realising that he has been there for almost eight days, some people informed the Goa Citizen Welfare Trust of Michael Ferns, who along with his co-workers rushed to the site and covered the senior citizen with a cloth. They tried bringing him to conscience failed; later, they called a 108 ambulance and got him shifted to Hospicio.
The senior citizen has been lying there without water or food and hence had no energy to get on his feet. He had no clothes on him and was unconscious.
When contacted Michael Ferns said, “The man we rescued doesn’t look like a Goan. We will find out the whereabouts of the person after he comes to his conscience.”
Michael also informed that the trust has similarly helped an elderly man from Raia who was ousted from his house.
