89% voting in Pernem P’yat polls

PANJIM: The general elections of the three village panchayats of Pernem Taluka — Alorna, Casarvarnem and Chandel-Hassapur saw 89.47 per cent voter turnout on Friday. 

Total 40 candidates are in fray in the three panchayats while two are elected unopposed. As per the information provided by the State Election Commission (SEC), Casarvarnem Panchayat recorded the highest 91.07 per cent voter turnout, while Alorna recorded 90.55 per cent voting. Total 87.42 per cent voters voted in Chandel-Hassapur Panchayat. 

One candidate each in Alrona (Ward I) and Chandel-Hassapur (Ward I) are elected unopposed. The counting of votes will take place on Sunday, December 11, at Sohirobanath Ambiya Government College of Arts, Commerce, Virnoda-Pernem.
