According to the information, fire broke out in the cottage number 2 of Beach Bay cottages located close to Bogmalo beach at around 11.30 am and it is suspected that the fire could be due to short circuit in the air conditioning unit. As these cottages were made up of bamboo sticks and palm leaves, within no time, fire engulfed other cottages located in the vicinity and before fire tenders could reach at the site, nine cottages were completely destroyed. Two fire tenders from Vasco, one each from Navy and MPT helped in dousing the fire before the same could damage the remaining seven cottages. Fire officials informed that the loss is yet to be estimated. Police is further investigating the case.
