PANJIM: Nine Goan students stranded in Ukraine are in constant touch with the Commissioner for NRI Affairs to return home.
Director for NRI Affairs Anthony J D’Souza told Herald that so far nine Goan students studying in Ukraine and their parents have contacted him and that he had told them to follow the guidelines of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Embassy in Ukraine.

“We are in contact touch with our students practically after every hour. Their parents in Goa are also in touch with us. So far nine students studying in Ukraine have contacted us and we have told students to follow advisories and guidelines issued by the MEA and the Indian Embassy,” said D’Souza.
D’Souza said that some students have confirmed to him that they are proceeding towards the border while, others are waiting for transport arrangements to reach to the border.
“We are also coordinating their transportation to cross the border as European Union is allowing students holding Ukraine Visa to cross the border and reach either Romania or Hungary,” he said
According to D’Souza, all the nine students were studying medicine including veterinary and that the government will make all efforts to ensure their evacuation and safe return.
In several tweets Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Goans stranded in Ukraine have started establishing contact with the Goa NRI Commission. The Government of Goa is in constant touch with the @IndiainUkraine Ministry of External Affairs for safe return of Goans to India.
