Keeping this in mind the Don Bosco managed Pope John XXIII High School in Quepem Taluka has decided to depart from the traditional way of teaching and they succeeded in their mission of a free and happy style of learning.
Today many schools not only from Quepem but from all over Goa visit this School to learn the “Anandayi” happy Way.
It is not only the teaching which is important but there should be learning too. Pope John XXIII high School Headmaster Fr Dominic Savio Fernandes thought of coming out from the traditional way of teaching and along with the teachers and parents decided to teach out of Box. It’s not just teaching going on it’s the real way learning.
Teacher are now not dependent on chalk and board, it is now television sets and LCD projectors. Now students are trained to take classes by using modern techniques of e-learning.
Teachers are implementing activity classes. To scrap the old rote method, the school is now training students to give stress on reading habit and to frame their own questions and answers. In this school teachers are not mere teachers, but they are acting as facilitators and mentors. Teachers are just not using bookish knowledge to teach students but they use new techniques of activity learning.
The school which has classes from KG to SSCE has various facilities for overall development of child. Every Child is exposed to internet facility. There is WiFi facility available in the school. Every teacher and maximum students are making good use of internet facilities.
The school has installed television sets in every class from the fifth to the eighth standard. In the ninth and tenth standard, LEDs have been installed. Every teacher has been equipped with modern Technology.
Many schools and educational institutions have placed a ban on bringing mobiles in School. This School has tapped the idea of using the mobile for education purpose. In the higher classes there are Whatsapp groups formed where students and teachers exchange ideas on school related topics.
The school has found this creativity has also helped them in getting good results. Last year the school got Cent percent results and this year it was 95 percent in SSCE examination.
