MARGAO: Abhijit Prabhudessai asserted the need to object to the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) prepared by Chennai based NCSCM on grounds that they are arbitrarily prepared and not reflecting the ground reality and condemned the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority for approving it.
Speaking at a programme organised by Aam Aadmi Party, he said the CZMP does not show any fishing villages in Goa and only fleetingly mentions “fishing wards” when in reality the entire Goan coastline and river banks are fishing villages as the people there survive on fishing industry.
“The plan appears to be prepared just to show that the requirement of preparing the Coastal Zone Management Plan has been complied with,” he said and urged people to raise strong objections to its approval at the meeting scheduled on July 7, at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
