Panjim: A day after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said he would file defamation cases against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for dragging his and his wife’s name into the cash-for-jobs scam, AAP has dared him to go ahead with his plan, claiming that they have proof to substantiate their allegations.

The party leaders also said that the CM should work on creating more job opportunities for the youth, instead of getting into confrontations with the Opposition.
AAP has alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is questioning complainants in the cash-for-jobs scam on the source of the cash that they gave to the accused. AAP leader Valmiki Naik said, “This is an intimidation tactic. Dr Pramod Sawant is using the ED and threats of defamation to stop the flow of criticism and statements against him.”
Naik said that the timeline of the CM’s statements show that he has avoided having a judicial probe because he knows that the scam can be traced back to those who are close to him. “BJP can arrest their critics anytime, because that’s what they do when they get scared. The Chief Minister feels that he can shut the Opposition up by threatening them with defamation. We welcome the announcement of a defamation case,” Naik said.
AAP Leader Francis Coelho highlighted the unemployment problem in the State and asked the government to focus on that. “We challenge the CM to file the defamation case. But more than that, we suggest that he utilises the time to create gainful employment for the youth of Goa,” he said.
