CURCHOREM: Uday Gaunkar, who had filed his nomination papers as an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate, finally has to settle as an Independent for Sanvordem constituency after scrutiny of nomination papers.
On Thursday, while the nomination papers of candidates were being scrutinised by the Returning Officer at  Dharbandora, Sanvordem BJP MLA Ganesh Gaonkar raised objection that Uday has not produced Form B within the stipulated time and  Form A and B was not signed with ink pen which also do not show the name of Uday or his substitute.
Uday sought time to file reply which was allowed up to 11 am on Friday by the Returning Officer Agnelo Fernandes.
Allowing partly objection raised by Gaonkar, in his order which was pronounced in the open court, Fernandes said that nomination papers of Uday claiming to be fielded by AAP cannot be considered.
“However, his candidature is subscribed by 10 electors as proposers and he would be deemed to be an Independent candidate as his papers found to be valid in all other respect except Form B and hence the nomination is accepted and considered as filed as an Independent candidate.
