AAP slams govt for clamp down

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has slammed the government for imposing Section 144 of CrPC by calling it “dictatorship in the name countering of terror threat.” Taking a jibe at the government, said that instead of imposing Section 144 on the people of Goa, it should have been imposed on MLAs who have defected to the BJP. AAP said that the “unjustified” imposition of Section 144 in the whole of Goa is to thwart voices of dissent. The AAP said that measure would also hit tourism which is “already witnessing depleted tourist footfalls”. AAP South Goa Convener Rodney Almeida said that repression of the voice of the people was never resorted to in the past as is being done now and called upon Goans to reject all the MLAs, particularly those who have defected and support the government. “This is dictatorship in the name countering of terror threat. They don’t want people to speak out against this failed government. If Section 144 was applied to prevent the assembly of 10 ex-Congress defector MLAs, this government would have collapsed long ago,” Almeida said.
