PANJIM: The Goa unit of Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday termed the absence of 34 MLAs belonging to the BJP, Congress and partners, at the special awareness session on Mhadei organised by the Speaker, as an act of being irresponsible towards Goa’s interest.
AAP Goa unit General Secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar said that the MLAs are so scared of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar that they are toeing his line to get electoral gains in Karnataka to his BJP party at the cost of Goa’s interest.
“Parrikar has a record of their sins. So they are afraid. What good can anyone expect?” Padgaonkar asked.
AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes congratulated the taxi operators for maintaining peace during the three-day strike and asked them to be vigilant since assurances given in the past have never been met as the government has a history of taking U-turns.
On the issue of the demand and opposition for installation of a statue of Jack Sequeira in the Assembly complex, Gomes said that it was yet another attempt to divert attention of people from coal, river nationalisation and failures of the government in the last one year.
