MARGAO: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday called upon the Governor to refuse assent to bills that the government with opposition help seeks to pass in an ‘unprecedented truncated session’ scheduled for tomorrow.
Terming it as nothing but a complete mockery of the ‘Constitution of India’, which has placed tremendous responsibility in the hands of the legislature, AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes said it was a ‘fixed match’ between legislators to avoid public scrutiny of the misdemeanours of the government that had resulted in an administrative collapse.
He said that grant of assent to any bill deemed to have been passed without discussion touching upon important legislations and amendments to various Acts, Rules cannot qualify for the satisfaction of the Governor.
