PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday said that the Airport Authority of India’s plans to enter into the business of operation of rent-a-cab scheme in the State would be further blow to the taxi operators in Goa.
Addressing the media, AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes said, “Taxi operators should at least now realise that the government was least bothered about the common man’s problems. Years go by, there is no resolution of the taxi operator’s issue. Now to add insult to injury, another State player besides GTDC has entered the cab market to finish off the locals completely. Let the government show what has happened and what steps have been taken since the withdrawal of the strike.”
He added, “The government had done nothing since then but passed time as it does in all cases after giving false assurances. The self employed common man will have a hard time in the days to come with the government catering to interests of non-Goans like it had done during Lusofonia Games and BRICS summit.”
Commenting on the issue of Goamiles app-based service, Anthony D’Souza a cab operator, said that as the issue of his livelihood was involved, he had sought Information under RTI and it was denied by GTDC.
