CRT seeks social audit of GTDC initiatives

PANJIM: Centre for Responsible Tourism (CRT) has demanded a social audit of all the initiatives of GTDC, including the investments in the promotional tours.
In a press release issued here, the CRT said that it continues to hold the view that good governance demands that policies are designed not for the people but with the people.
In the press release, the CRT said that GTDC has categorically admitted that it created the much advertised app for the taxi operators but without them.
In this regard, the CRT said, it would also be appropriate for GTDC to publicly reveal the manner in which the app creator was selected. “The app has not honoured the last government notified rates of the year 2014 for all the tourist taxis which is clearly a sign of denying the local taxi operators of their livelihood. Such operations raises CRT’s fundamental question, that is, for whose benefit has this app been introduced?” the press release asked.
In the interest of the people of Goa and Goans, CRT said, it would also like to inquire of the initiatives introduced by the GTDC over the past few years as to what has been its sustainability outcome and in what manner it has benefitted the State of Goa.
