Vasco: Access to part of Khariwado in Vasco was restricted after the earlier incident where one COVID-19 person fled to Karnataka unnoticed by the authorities while another nurse was found to be positive.
Mormugao municipal councillor from Khariwado, Lavina D’Souza has urged locals who had come in contact with the infected persons to get tested and has also demanded that a lockdown be imposed in Vasco to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the port town and Goa.

She added that the authorities had restricted and sealed part of the Khariwado area by placing barricades where the COVID-positive cases were found.
D’Souza also referred to the nurse testing positive and raised concerns about the health of nurses, doctors and medical staff serving the public.
She also condemned the action of the person, a non-Goan from Khariwado who fled Goa with his family to his native place Bagalkot in Karnataka. She reasoned that his actions were wrong given his knowledge of being COVID positive. She added that as soon as she received the information, she informed the local police who cooperated with her and that they got information from Bagalkot also helped that the person was admitted in a hospital there.
