PONDA: The accused Physical Education (PE) teacher 53-year-old Vishwas Prabudesai booked by Mardol Police for allegedly molesting a 14-year-old school student at Madkai has filed an anticipatory bail application in District and Session Court, at Ponda. The bail application will come up for hearing on Thursday (August 31).
It is pertinent to note that the accused teacher is absconding since the shocking incident.
Police said the accused has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Goa Children’s Act (GCA) and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The case was registered on Monday morning. However, Mardol police could not arrest him until Tuesday morning by which time he had approached the Additional District and Sessions Court seeking anticipatory bail.
It may be recalled that the shocking incident took place on March 25 this year and the parents of the victim had informed the school authority and management about the same. However, with the school authorities reluctant to launch an inquiry into the offence, the parents then approached the Mardol Police and lodged a complaint with help of locals. The locals threaten to launch and agitation if the police fail to nab the accused.
