MARGAO/PONDA: Three murder cases were reported across the State involving migrants even as police detected two cases with the arrest of three persons including a woman. The murders were reported at Fatorda, Mardol and Bicholim respectively. In one case, the husband was arrested while in the other, the wife and her paramour were nabbed.
In the first case, the Mardol Police on Wednesday arrested Munna Sahadev Bhuiya (46), a native of Jharkhand and presently residing at Banastarim on the charge of murdering his wife Sanju Devi (50).

The police said that the accused strangulated Sanju by using a dupatta on suspicion that she was having an extra-marital affair. He allegedly killed his wife on Sunday on a service road near Banastarim underpass. The body was found on Tuesday night.
After killing his wife, the accused informed the incident to his two children. Both the accused and the deceased were working as labourers.
The Mardol Police conducted the panchanama and sent the body to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim for post-mortem examination.
In the second case, the Bicholim police arrested wife and her paramour for the alleged murder of Belgaum native Ramesh Siddagoli, found murdered under a new bridge at Bicholim on Wednesday morning.
The police arrested Sangita Siddagoli (29) and Ramu Gawali (50), both natives Maharashtra, while they were trying to board a train at the Tivim railway station.
The murder is suspected to have been committed due to an illicit relationship between Sangita and Ramu, who is her sister’s husband. According to the police, both the accused assaulted the deceased with a sharp weapon on the back multiple times, which resulted into his death. The deceased was a scrap collector and was residing below the bridge.
In the third case, an unidentified labourer, estimated to be around 50 years old, fell victim to a brutal murder near a construction site at Madel, Fatorda.
The assailant allegedly used a laterite stone to smash the victim’s head. One labourer has been detained for questioning, based on CCTV footage of the area, said the police.
The Fatorda Police registered the case as a murder, under Section 302 of the IPC.
PI Fatorda, Ditendra Naik, reported that on Wednesday morning at approximately 9 am, a Madel resident informed the Fatorda Police Station about the discovery of the deceased’s body near a construction site, situated by the roadside. The police utilised the expertise of the dog squad and fingerprint experts to process the scene of the crime. Authorities have also seized the stone believed to have been used to crush the victim’s head.
According to Fatorda Police, both the victim and the accused are yet to be identified. PI Naik speculated that the victim and the perpetrator might have been acquainted with each other, possibly being rag pickers or fellow labourers residing in close proximity to a model construction site.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the murder might have occurred around 11 pm on the preceding day.
