MARGAO: The Navelim unit of AAP has accused the Congress of supporting an independent candidate backed by the BJP. This, the AAP said, once again exposes deep rooted the connection between the BJP and the Congress when it comes to Navelim constituency.
In a message posted on social media, AAP leader from Navelim Sidharth Karapurkar made a damning claim that there was confusion in the ranks of the Congress over the party’s top leadership advising the people to vote for an independent candidate backed by the BJP, rather than the official candidate.

He claimed that the Congress is apparently returning the favour it received from BJP in 2017 assembly elections, when the saffron party ditched the then sitting MLA, who was a minister in the BJP government, in favour of the Congress. Karapurkar said that such leaders “thrived more on chicanery” and could ditch their own party candidate as he was of no consequence due to his proximity to another former MLA. Karapurkar urged voters not to fall prey to dirty politics but to ensure that a woman candidate with integrity fielded by the Aam Aadmi Party elected to usher in a new era in politics.
