VASCO: Dilapidated buildings that pose a threat to citizens in Vasco have became a cause of concern. A similar incident was reported on Monday morning, when a small portion of a slab from a 40-year-old dilapidated building, opposite Vasco Police station suddenly fell on the shoulder of a man standing below. Luckily, the man escaped with minor injuries.
Taking serious note of the incident, the Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo has decided to send a reminder to Mormugao Municipality requesting action and ensuring that citizens and policemen attached to the police station are not put to risk.
In fact, in October last year we wrote to MMC that the building located right opposite the main entrance of Vasco police station is in a dilapidated state. Even the officials of Goa Engineering College officials had conducted a detailed test regarding stability of the building and the report suggested that the same was unsafe, the PI said, adding the building has big cracks and a banyan tree too has grown on top of the building. Ironically, though the MMC has identified and even prepared a list of dilapidated structures, it has failed to find a permanent solution to the issue.
