PONDA: Adanwada and Marcaim locals shocked over construction of crematorium adjacent to Anganwadi and Primary School Premises.
Locals object and demanded to stop the construction work of the crematorium adjacent to Primary and Balwadi School building, since it started on October 8 and cancel the project immediately. The Locals demanded MLA Sudin Dhavalikar, sarpanch and Zilla Panchayat member clarify how crematorium is constructed near school premises. According to locals, along with the school, there are 14 residential houses close to the crematorium site. Locals said earlier they were not aware but when they conducted inquiry, they were shocked to learn that the ongoing construction is for crematorium and they immediately objected at the Panchayat.
The locals also demanded that Education department, Marcaim Health Centre inspect the site in interest of students
Addressing to media along with social worker Tara Kerkar, the locals said they have also submitted memorandum along with their signatures to local Dhavalikar to urgently look into matter as the small children of age between 3 and 8 would be force to face stench smell and smoke coming out of burning bodies during funeral rites, which would affect their health.
