MARGAO: In a major breakthrough, a person from Quepem, who was wanted in several cases, was arrested by the South Goa police team.
“Accused Prakash Deikar, resident of Ambaulim, who was absconding for the past two years after duping many Goans for crores of rupees on the pretext of land deals was arrested. Excellent work by Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) Mayur Sawant, Swadesh Desai and Jaideep Amre from Quepem Police Station (PS) under supervision of Police Inspector (PI) Deepak Pednekar,” said South Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) Pankaj Kumar Singh.
According to Quepem police, Deikar was wanted in cases registered at the Quepem PS under section 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“He has duped many innocent Goans causing cumulative loss of crore of rupees on the pretext of selling land. He was staying away from his family members and was frequently visiting nearby states for refuge in an attempt to hide from the police. The accused was traced by the PSIs of the South Goa Police team, Sawant, Dessai and Amre,” said Quepem police officials.
The Quepem PS staff caught the accused while he was planning to flee away from the State.
