PANJIM: The Personnel Department on Thursday issued suspension orders on Additional Collector (North) Dipak Desai and Bicholim Deputy Collector Pradip Naik following their arrests in connection with the Cancona tragedy.
Both were arrested by crime branch on February 12 after four days of questioning. They had served as the chief officers of Canacona municipality earlier, when they issued occupancy certificates and other permissions to the Ruby Residency project of Bharat Developers. Both directors are now absconding and police claim that they are untraceable.
