…Admits Cong in State declined, needs a leadership change

MARGAO: Admitting that the Congress in State has declined and needs a change in leadership at the earliest, South Goa Member of Parliament Francisco Sardinha on Thursday urged the government to reduce the fuel prices, which have badly affected the common man.

Briefing the media persons, Sardinha alleged that the BJP grabbed power by lying to the people of Goa with regards to mining scam. Besides, the MP said he does want the government to lift the curfew imposed in wake of COVID. “I warn the government not to lift the curfew imposed in wake of COVID. Stop operations of casinos for some more time. Let normalcy prevail in Goa,” he said.

On the fuel price hike, the MP said, “The government should understand that inflation depends on the fuel prices. The current hike in fuel prices has created an extra burden on the common man. The government needs to open its eyes and reduce the fuel prices at the earliest.”

He called for a change in leadership in the Congress and admitted that the party has declined in the State. “The High Command should take into the confidence leaders like Pratapsingh Rane, Luizinho Faleiro, Ravi Naik, Reginaldo Lourenco and me with regards to change in leadership. Remove Girish Chodankar as a president at the earliest and only then Congress will survive. Presently Girish and Digambar are the only two persons handling the Congress,” said Sardinha.

He said the party will try its best to get the majority in the coming Assembly elections.

Lashing out against the Aam Aadmi Party, the Congress, MP said, “The AAP has spent nearly Rs 150 crore just on advertisements in three months.

Sardinha accused the AAP of not protecting the Church in Delhi from demolition. “If the AAP government can protect the illegal houses in Delhi, then why can’t a Church,” he asked.
