PONDA: The Additional Session Judge at Ponda dismissed the anticipatory bail application of Pradeep N Velip (34), a resident of Kadasal Khandepar, who has been accused of abetting the suicide of his wife Rekha Velip (26).
According to Public Prosecutor Satyawan Raut Desai, Rekha committed suicide on December 27, 2016 at Khadsal Khandepar in a rented premise.
Public Prosecutor Desai opposed to the anticipatory bail application of the accused stating that offence is of serious in nature and the accused might temper with evidence.
The incident came to light when neighbours heard the cry of a child continuously and when they broke open the door Rekha was found hanging from the roof of the rented room.
Since Rekha’s death occurred within seven years of marriage, Ponda Sub Divisional Magistrate conducted an enquiry into case and thereafter an offence was registered by Ponda police against the accused under Section 306 of IPC.
