In a recent development, seven individuals have been charged by the Agassaim police under the provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty Towards Animals Act. The charges stem from their alleged involvement in the transportation of bulls without proper authorization.
Among the accused, two have been identified as Hanumanta Kutakanakeri and Malibubasab Walikar, both residents of Zuarinagar. Additionally, Eddie Dias and Meleum Palha, who reside in Agacaim, along with Marian Rodrigues from Verna and Gurudas Gawas from Agacaim, have also been named. The incident involved an unidentified male as well.
Disturbingly, the accused parties reportedly threatened Gauresh Naringrekar with severe consequences, including threats of physical harm. Gauresh Naringrekar was allegedly subjected to physical assault, with one of the accused twisting his right hand and another striking him in the face. These actions took place after Naringrekar inquired about the validity of their transportation documents or permissions, as the bull was being transported via a rickshaw. The individuals involved also used offensive language in verbally abusing Gauresh Naringrekar.
The accused individuals have been found to lack the necessary documents or authorization for the transportation of the bull. As a result, the animal was being transported without proper precautions, potentially subjecting it to cruelty.
An FIR (First Information Report) has been lodged against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 504, 323, 506 (i), 429 г/w34, as well as Section 11(1)(d) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act of 1960. Additionally, the accused have been charged under Rules 47 to 56 of the Transportation of Animal Rules of 1978. The ongoing investigation into the matter is being conducted by PSI Parag M. Parekh.
This incident underscores the importance of adhering to regulations and guidelines to ensure the welfare and proper treatment of animals during transportation.
