CANACONA: South Goa Collector N D Agrawal said a criminal complaint will be lodged against the mid-day meal supplier to Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya, if investigation by Food & Drugs Administration (FDA) reveals negligence.

Replying to media queries that such serious issues tend to be forgotten after the public outrage subsides, Agrawal replied: “A criminal complaint will be registered against the mid-day meal supplier. If the FDA examination reports contamination of meals, action will be taken against the guilty.”

To another query, Agrawal said he will find out if the system of a parent and a teacher testing the food is still being practiced in schools.

It may be recalled that following the contamination of a mid-day meal at Vasco school a few years ago, the institutions were asked to follow a system where one teacher and a parent would test the mid-day meal before serving it to the students.
