AGSSTA calls of dharna

PANJIM: The All Goa Secondary School Teachers Association (AGSSTA) Tuesday called off their on-going dharna and protest march scheduled on September 5 following an assurance from Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to find suitable solution after the Chaturthi vacations, teachers said.

PANJIM: The All Goa Secondary School Teachers Association (AGSSTA) Tuesday called off their on-going dharna and protest march scheduled on September 5 following an assurance from Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to find suitable solution after the Chaturthi vacations, teachers said.
The AGSSTA delegation Tuesday met the chief minister who also holds the education portfolio who sought to deliberate in detail on all issues affecting the secondary school teachers. President of AGSSTA Dattatraya Naik said, “We are ready to wait till the end of September for a resolution to all our issues.”
He said that the chief minister is ready to issue directions to the finance department to stop recovery of Part B arrears provided he is convinced that the present exercise is incorrect. On other issues, the chief minister agreed to look into the same again provided the demands are justified.
After meeting the chief minister, AGSSTA briefed its members who decided to call off their stir and allow government some time to resolve all their long pending issues.
