PORVORIM: Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar flagged off the Kadamba school bus service from Savlem-Pilerne to Porvorim.
Parulekar launched the bus service in the presence of Pilerne Sarpanch Sandeep Bandodkar, Dy Sarpanch Damini Shirodkar, Vijay Ghate (OSD Traffic of KTC) and Vinayak Naik (Traffic KTC).
Speaking on the occasion, Parulekar said most of the students from Savlem-Pilerne go to schools in Porvorim, but due to lack of transport facilities they face a lot of hardships.
“There was a demand from the locals to introduce bus service for the students to go to Porvorim from Savlem. Considering the need of the students, the Kadamba Transport Corporation introduced this bus service for the students from the area,” informed Parulekar.
“There is also a demand from the locals to introduce a bus service from Mapusa to Panjim via Sangolda, Pilerne, Verem and Betim. The request is under consideration and soon KTC will press bus into service on the route,” added Parulekar.
Earlier, Sarpanch Bandodkar welcomed the gathering, while Deputy Sarpanch Shirodker proposed the vote of thanks.
