AI gets notice over baggage scare at Dabolim airport

DABOLIM: The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has issued a show cause notice to Air India Express for alleged failure of mandatory baggage reconciliation on hopping flights which led to an unaccompanied cabin bag being flown from Delhi to Goa

It may be recalled that an unclaimed bag on board Delhi-Goa flight created a bomb scare at the Dabolim International Airport on Friday night. 

Air India Express flight with 171 passengers from Delhi airport was to land at the Dabolim airport at around 8.30 pm on Friday. While the flight was in mid-air, the crew found an unknown bag in the flight and as per procedure, the crew asked the passengers about the bag, but there were no claimants. 

It created panic situation mid-air with the news of an unknown bag and the flight immediately contacted the ATC and CISF at the Dabolim airport and informed them about the unclaimed bag.
