AITUC Goa joins call to withdraw Agnipath

PANJIM: The Goa State Committee of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) on Friday held a protest demonstration at Azad Maidan, Panjim demanding immediate withdrawal of government’s armed forces recruitment scheme Agnipath.

The AITUC along with the trade unions, retired employees and other mass organisations shouted slogans against the Agnipath scheme.

Condemning the government’s decision of short-term induction of youths for the Indian Air Force, Prasanna Utgi, President of AITUC said, “Agnipath is government’s ugly strategy to bring economic stability”.

Suhas Naik, Secretary of AITUC said, “The previously ruling parties used to take such major decisions by discussing with the public”. He alleged that the ruling party is not taking the public into consideration but is taking the decisions randomly. 

“It is a backdrop policy having no job security”, added Naik.

Condemning the exploitation of daily wages workers, General Secretary of Electricity Employees Union (EEU) Raju Mangueshkar along with the General Secretary of AITUC Christopher Fonseca outlined about the struggle of workers and condemned rampant violation of labour laws and failure of government to provide social security to the youths of State.
