Margao: The Directorate of Accounts has clarified that all the pension cases of retired government employees have been settled.
The accounts department stated that so far they have received around 24,500 cases from various departments as against estimated 40,000 cases. Out of these around 6,000 pension cases have already been settled consequent upon formation of special pension cell w.e.f. May 4, 2020.
Initially, there had been a slight delay on account of enforcement of model code of conduct, lock down due to pandemic COVID-19.
The Directorate of Accounts further stated that the Government is already in the process of augmenting the workforce involved in settlement of these pensioners.
“The endeavour of the Department is to authorise the revision of pension cases as early as possible even during the present crisis. The remaining revision cases shall be cleared within next few months,” the dept officials added.
It may be recalled that pensioners of Goa Government had informed of being in distress on account of government negligence. The pensioners had alleged that the order of Prime Minister four and half years ago to revise the scale of pension all over the country (Central & State) from Jan 1st, 2016 which was a mandatory order and most States/UTs implemented it, the Governments of Goa under three successive Chief Ministers have allegedly failed to implement the order.
