All Ravindra Bhavans will be refurbished: Gaude

MARGAO: Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude revealed that all the Ravindra Bhavans in Goa will be refurbished shortly and also hinted at the possible demolition of Kala Academy in Campal to pave way for new premises.
He also said the government is sympathetic to the demand to supply kerosene at a subsidised rate to crematoriums in the State.
“The Kala Academy is in a very bad condition as it is leaking but unfortunately nothing can be done to repair it as the designer is objecting to it,” said Gaude while pointing out that the monsoon fury is taking its toll on the structures in State.
While admitting that Margao Ravindra Bhavan needs to be refurbished, he said even the one at Mormugao is leaking and added that estimates amounting to nearly Rs 11 crore has been prepared to refurbish all the Ravindra Bhavans in the State.
He said the government is sympathetic to the demand from managements of crematorium that they be supplied kerosene at a subsidised rate and added that they will have to discuss it with the centre to see how best it can be fulfilled.
“We understand that it is a humane issue as it in connection with laying to rest a dead person,” he said adding that they will try to give at least 200 lts at a subsidised rate to the Margao crematorium that has actually asked for 300 lts per month.
